Teachers Demoted For Recording Zero Percent In BECE

Two head teachers in the Asunafo North municipality have been demoted after recording zero percent in the Basic Certificate Examination. The Municipal Director of Education, Jonas Yerebore in an interview with Citi News said the action was part of efforts to improve the standard of education in the Brong Ahafo region. It was agreed that all heads of such schools should be demoted and that teachers of feeding schools should be given a strict warning because we are thinking that the zero percent will affect students performance. The demotion, he said, was as a result of those who had failed on two consecutive. He also said four teachers are to be dismissed and about 90 others investigated for joining the service with fake certificates I have to dismiss four teachers whose certificates are found to be fake but we are still going on with investigations to find more people.
