Ghana And India Strengthen Ties

The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has advocated the intensification of relations between Parliament and the various foreign missions in Ghana to promote a holistic people-to-people engagement in international relations. He said the situation where Ambassadors and High Commissioners main preoccupation is engaging the Executive in the implementation of governance related matters must be revised. Mr Doe Adjaho said country to country relations will be further strengthened if Parliament which is the true representative of the people is engaged by the Ambassadors. Mr Adjaho said this when the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Jeeva Sagar called on him at his office. He said Ghana-India relations predate the independence of the two countries and stressed the need for the two countries to take steps to further enhance their bilateral ties. The Speaker expressed appreciation to the Indian government for its continuous support to Ghana. The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana Jeeva Sagar commended Ghanaians for successfully going through the 2013 Supreme Court Case without acrimony and promised to engage Parliament and other institutions during his stay in the country to further deepen Ghana-India relations.
