A camera Operator at the God�s Way International Church (GWIC) is in the grips of the Kotobabi Police for allegedly attempting to cash a cheque belonging to the Founder of the Church. Confirming the incident on NEAT 100.9 FM, Bishop Daniel Obimin, the General Overseer and Founder of the GWIC explained that the cheque of GHC 4,000 was given to him as a donation towards a church building project. According to Bishop, the cheque was handed to him on the 31st December, 2013 during the watch night service which he held to usher in the New Year. �..I opened the envelope which contained the cheque on Wednesday, the 1st of January and then realized that it was GHc4,000. After that, my cameraman that I work with came to me for his salary so I fetched some money and mistakenly put it into the envelope that contained the GHc 4000 cheque�. �I later went looking for the cheque that afternoon but could not find it. I also tried to contact my cameraman but was unable to get through to him so alerted the man who gave the cheque of the incident. I advised that he block the cheque but he refused and said he would make the bank to arrest anyone who tried to cash it,� he explained. On the word of Bishop Obinim, he received a call from the Kokomlemle branch of Unibank on Monday, five clear days after the loss of the GHc 4,000 cheque , only to be informed that his cameraman, whose name he only gave as Opoku, had been arrested for attempting to withdraw the money. ��after I spoke to a few people, my boy (Opoku) called me and asked why he would do such a thing to me, knowing very well the money was meant for the construction of a church building. I then told him that I�m in Kumasi so he should be detained until I get back,� Bishop Daniel Obinim further explained. This comes on the back of a 20-year conviction that was handed to Constable Nicholas Owusu Asante by an Accra Circuit court for forging the signature and stealing monies from the account of the very person he was assigned to bodyguard, Hon. Rachel Florence Appor, the Deputy Minister of Gender, Women and Social Protection.
