Mr Sylvester Mensah Donates To NDC

Mr Johnson Aseidu-Nkatiah, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Wednesday said the party survived on the monthly dues paid by members. He said other sources of income for the party were donations, fundraising, corporate support and assistance from its Members of Parliament and public appointees. Mr Aseidu-Nkatiah said this when he received a cheque for 15,000 Ghana cedis from Mr Slyvester Mensah, Cheif Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and copies of a book written by Mr Mensah. The donation is part of proceeds made from the sale of the book which was launched on December 28, 2013. The book, titled: "In the Shadows of Politics," is the autobiography of Mr Mensah, his achievements, challenges and roles in politics. Mr Aseidu-Nkatiah said the donation was made public for members of the party and other political parties to emulate and demonstrate their commitment to their various parties. Mr Mensah said members of the party highly participated in the launch of the book which shows their commitment to the advancement of democracy. He said Chapter 11 of the book narrated his story and other contestants for the General Secretary position of the NDC including Mr Aseidu-Nketiah. Mr Mensah appealed to members of the NDC to contribute meaningfully, either in cash or in kind, towards the sustenance of the party and urged the youth to emulate the examples of the elders in the party. Other executive members present included Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan, National Organiser and Mr Solomon Nkansah, Deputy Propaganda Secretary of the NDC.
