Mahama Performed Abysmally In 2013 NPP

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that President John Mahamas one year in office as President can only be described as abysmal as the economy has further declined during the period. Speaking a forum organized by the party to evaluate the Mahama administrations first year in office, Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei cited various instances to buttress the point that the President performed poorly on all fronts. He mentioned the depreciation of the Ghana Cedi by 24%, the downgrading of Ghanas credit rating by three major credit agencies; Fitch, Moodys and Standard and Poors. According to the Old Tafo MP, in the year 2013, the average Ghanaian found life very, very difficult. Dr. Akoto Osei advised Ghanaians to brace themselves for tougher times in 2014 disputing Presidents Mahamas assertions that this year will be better than 2013. Touching on the introduction of the new Value Added Tax (VAT) rates, he pointed out that Ghanaians will suffer coupled with the upward adjustment of tariffs. The NPP on Wednesday held a public forum to address some pertinent issues and review the year 2013 under President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The forum, which was held at the forecourt of the partys National Headquarters, was addressed by some key members of the party, including, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, Nana Akomea, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Kofi Jumah.
