A leading member of the People's Progressive Party (PPP), Charles Owusu has called on Ghanaians to rise up and fight the new adjustments in the prices of petroleum products announced by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on Thursday. According to him, Ghanaians must express their indignation over the increments in the prices of petrol, kerosene and gas oil and therefore put the government on its toes. Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, the PPP advocate noted that the monies retrieved from the fuel price increments will not be used by government to generate revenue for the country but rather to enrich themselves. In his view, President John Dramani Mahama and his government have no clue about how to develop the nation. �2014 is going to be more challenging than even 2013�President Dramani Mahama has failed Ghanaians. We have a breakdown of the system that the government doesn�t know what to do�But the time has come that Ghanaians must rise up and we have to complain. We have to let him know that things are not going on well with us. �Taxes are killing Ghanaians. We�re dying of taxes. We�re dying of increment." he stated. Meanwhile, the National Petroleum Authority has increased the price of petrol by over 6 percent and sells at 233.00 pesewas per litre. Kerosene also saw the highest increase of over 19 percent and Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is also gone up by 8.73 percent. The current ex-pump price for Gas oil is 226 pesewas a litre, the new price will now be 242 pesewas per litre. Premix fuel, however, saw no change in price. It will still sell at 116.00 pesewas a litre.
