NPP Annuls Constituency Elections In 16 Constituencies Nationwide

The New Patriotic Party says executives elected in 16 constituencies across the country were not validly elected. Their elections have therefore been annulled. Fresh elections will be held before next weeks regional executive elections. NPP Director of elections, Martin Adjei Mensa-Korsah told Joy News the annulment affects all constituencies that produced more than one voters register during the polling station elections. "We've are series of issues leading to actions in court about disagreements of polling station executive elections and as a result of which different albums, or voters lists have emerged. "What the party has done as per a letter by the General Secretary is that where ever there is any disagreement on the disc album and the basis being then the party at the regional level should ensure that new forms are released to those constituencies and then fresh elections are done at the polling stations so that the matter gets resolved. "The constituency that does not comply with this automatically removes itself from regional and national elections," he threatened, But in the partys stronghold of Ashanti Region where five constituencies are affected, theres fierce resistance to the directive. Earlier today, party supporters in the Ejisu-Juabeng staged a demonstration, to express their displeasure, with some threatening to place injunction on the directive. In Manhyia North, the MP there Collins Owusu Amankwah is accusing the partys leadership of manipulating the electoral process to their advantage.
