Teachers Of Colleges Of Education Ordered To End Strike

The National Labour Commission, NLC, has directed teachers of the country's Colleges of Education to call off their indefinite strike over their condition of service. The decision was arrived at a meeting between the teachers, the NLC and the Ministry of Education. The Public Relations Director of the Ministry of Education, Paul Krampah who disclosed this to Radio Ghana said the Labour Commission ruled that it is improper for the teachers to embark on strike since the Ministry is working on their concerns. The teachers claim, since the elevation of the colleges to tertiary status, nothing has been done to improve upon their condition. They said the Ministry of Education and the National Council for Tertiary Education have failed to honour their responsibilities to the teachers.
