Some unidentified supporters of National Democratic Congress (NDC) assaulted the wives and children of Emmanuel Attah-Obeng alias Soborae, the Kwahu South NDC Chairman at Kwahu-Bepong in the Mpraeso Constituency over the weekend. Owing to the development, the Mpreaso District Police Commander, DSP Emmanuel Amoah directed two policemen to protect the chairman and his family. Sources told Daily Guide that the Mpraeso Circuit Court on October, 27 2013remanded a certain Kabiru and Surazu, both supporters of the party into police custody for a week for failing to appear before court after assaulting the constituency chairman and some executives of the party during a meeting at Mpraeso. They further disclosed that the accused persons, together with others, later destroyed the constituency Mahindra Pick-up. Daily Guide gathered that last Saturday, the NDC Chairman went to his shop at Mpraeso, where two members of the party threatened to kill him on suspicion that he had influenced the court to remand the suspects and also supported the nomination of Joseph Omari as District Chief Executive (DCE). The constituency chairman quickly moved to the office of the District Commander to make a complaint. He again received another phone from his shop that the two people, who threatened him, had destroyed various some items at the shop. The terrified NDC chairman ordered his wife and the shop attendant to lock the shop to run to their house. Sources indicated that the suspects travelled to the house of the constituency chairman, forcibly opened the doors and assaulted his wives and children after which they fled through the rear door to a secret location in the constituency. When contacted by Daily Guide, the Mpraeso District Police Commander confirmed that Mr. Attah-Obeng had lodged an official complaint and the police were conducting investigations to arrest the culprits. He confirmed that two police personnel had been stationed at the residence of the NDC chairman to protect members of the household.
