No Decision On Tweaaa DCE Probe

The Deputy Local Government Minister, Emmanuel Kojo Agyekum, says the ministry is currently awaiting response from the Presidency on a report submitted on the conduct of the Ahafo-Ano South District Chief Executive (DCE). Speaking to Joy News on Tuesday, the Deputy Local Government Minister noted that the DCE, Gabriel Barimah, had apologised for his misconduct. He was embroiled in a verbal tussle with an anonymous hospital employee in what has become known as tweeaaa. In a video, which has gone viral on social media, especially Facebook, Gabriel Barimah was seen arguing with an anonymous hospital worker, who chuckled during the presentation of his speech at a function held in honour of the director of the Mankraso Hospital. His behaviour was condemned by the public, prompting the ministry to conduct investigations into the matter. Joy News reports that the emergence of the Tweaaa video has shot the DCE to fame. T-shirts with the inscription, Tweaaa, are already on the market. From the political trenches as an apostle of Jerry Rawlings cadre front, Mr Barimah soon rose through the ranks of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to become a DCE. But his appointment was without controversy. He was twice rejected by delegates for having a bad temper but he promised to reform and as if by design, the very things critics complained about was put to the test during a programme to honour the director of the Mankraso Hospital. Mr. Barimah lost his cool when somebody in the crowd chuckled. He walked away from the venue, ranting and raving. The Deputy Local Government Minister later told Joy News that the Presidency had been notified about the misconduct of the DCE but a firm decision is yet to be taken.
