The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) on Thursday suspended its one week sit- down strike action.
The one week-long strike action was in protest against poor conditions of service.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday, Mr Godwin Nomo Tetteh, CETAG Treasurer, said following a meeting held on Tuesday by the National Council, the association decided to suspend its strike action.
However, CETAG still withdraws its services of making exams papers as well as the invigilating of students in their ongoing exams, he said.
Mr Nomo Tetteh called on government and other stakeholders to as a matter of urgency address the plight of CETAG members, as the situation was retarding the progress of education in the country.
The poor service condition can influence some of the teachers to move from their field to other sectors where conditions are good and motivating, he added.
When the GNA visited the Accra college of Education, it noticed that exams was in session but the lecturers were not invigilating.
