Methodist Bishop Remarks Is An Attack On God Okudjeto Ablakwa

It doesnt appear that credibility is a friend of this Reverend Minister. I believe that the time has come for our men of God who want to dabbble in politics to come out openly and wear the party colours and T-shirts and there will be nothing wrong with it...If you are an NPP, NDC, CPP priest, feel free to do it but making a mockery of the church is not in the interest of anybody, asserts Deputy Minister of Education. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was reacting to criticism from Rt Rev Stephen Richard Bosomtwi-Ayensu, Methodist Bishop of Obuasi that the Mahama led administration is dull and insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians. According to the Rev Minister we have said enough prayers yet nothing positive seem to be happeningit is about time we the men of God took the President and his ministers on face to face. We have prayed and fasted, prophesied and done everything spiritually possible to no avail and it is time to now question the President and his ministers. Expressing concern about the Reverend Minister's comments, the Deputy Minister, speaking on Radio Golds "Alhaji and Alhaji" programme, pointed out that though there is nothing wrong with the clergy dabbling in partisan politics, it must not be done clandestinely to injure or favour a political the party. He accused the Methodist Bishop of having engaged in "divisive and partisan" before, and on both occasions against the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In April 2012, this Rev Minister made the headlines when he warned late President Mills to desist from using the title Asomdweehene, indicating that it was blasphemous for the former President to use such a name In 2013, he said in a sermon at the inauguration of the Brahabebome circuit of the Methodist Church in Obuasi that Nana Akufo Addo was the true and original Asomdweeheneso this is the man we are discussing. That is why I am saying if these people want to wear political colours and descend into the political arena, they should be free to do it, Okudjeto Ablakwa opined. He further described the comments of the Rev. Minister as totally unacceptable especially in terms of doctrine and has called on Christians to condemn such comments. He made mention of the fact that you dont need to be a student of theology to know that such comments are not sound doctrine. To say that you have prayed enough and you are not getting any results is even an attack on Godthese men of God bring this religion into disrepute.
