Ghana to play four games ahead of WC

Ghana will play four high profile games ahead of the Black Stars third successive World Cup appearance at the summer gathering in Brazil. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the Black Stars will pitch strength with Costa Rica and Honduras two weeks before the quadrennial showpiece kickoff in Brazil for a month. The Black Stars are scheduled to play Montenegro on March 5, before engaging the Netherlands on May 25, in Rotterdam as coach Kwesi Appiah seeks to fine-tune his squad for the competition. Ghana play the United States of America (USA), Portugal and Germany at the group stage with the selection of opponents for the international matches deem the perfect mix to prepare the Black Stars for the battle ahead. The team is expected to begin camping for the World Cup in Rotterdam on May 25, seven days after the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA)s directive to end all leagues as a result of the Brazil tournament. The Stars are expected to step up preparations in USA where they will play both Costa Rica and Honduras in what is likely to be their last set of warm up matches for the tournament. Ghana is regarded Africas best performers in the last two editions of the World Cup after the Stars reached the knockout stages at first attempt in Germany 2006 and exited at the last eight at the South Africa tournament in 2010.
