Hardliners and tribal supremacists in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who sworn a Northerner never becomes President of Ghana and who are utterly bitter against President John Dramani Mahama�s presidency, are devising a dangerous plot to have him �pay for his sins� after 2016. Intelligence report intercepted by The Al-Hajj indicates that, apparently enraged by the embarrassing double defeats the NPP suffered in the 2012 elections and the election petition at the Supreme Court; the anti-northerner President crusaders have vowed to have President John Mahama jailed in the unlikely event he losses the 2016 election. As part of plans to punish the Damango born but native of Bole President of Ghana for the double victory over their darling candidate Nana Akufo Addo, the NPP is said to be putting together criminologists and legal luminaries to start identifying areas in the current administration that can be used to prosecute and possibly jail the President in the event the NPP comes to power. Some of the areas the team is said to have their eyes glued on and are enthusiastically analyzing to build a strong docket against President Mahama are the alleged GYEEDA scandal, Fortiz takeover of Merchant bank and the USD3bn Chinese Development Bank loan. NPP insiders said they are sure the President will fail their test in all the above-mentioned scandals especially on the CDB. Sources close to the diabolical plot but who are infuriated by the crude hatred for a Northerner President, said they would have supported their colleagues� position if it was born out of genuine will to fight corruption. According to the sources, most of the party bigwigs believe the President has some questions to answer in court regarding the operations of GYEEDA, the Fortiz takeover of Merbank and the 3bn CDB loan. Already, retired high-ranking police officers and BNI officials, criminal and constitutional lawyers, retired Judges and retired military offices are being engaged to start looking into the areas of the Mahama government they believed they can build a strong and water-tight docket to nail him with should he lose the next election. As part of the plans, communicators and supporters of the party on social media with support from media appendages are to keep the tag of corruption on the front burner to paint a gloomy picture of the government and portray President Mahama as �filthy� corrupt. The idea is to hoodwink the Western world in supporting the NPP must �at all cost� win the 2016 election agenda. Mindful of the constitutional provision which debars criminal charges against a president after 3 years of leaving office and in order not to be accused of witch-hunting, the NPP, based on the findings by the teams, plan to bring President Mahama to a speedy trial in the event he loses the 2016 elections. President John Mahama is the second Northerner to rise to the position of President after Dr Hila Liman. Unlike the latter, President Mahama had to complete the unexpired term of his boss, the late President Mills before he was duly elected president at the 2012 polls. His legitimacy was challenged by his close contender Nana Akufo-Addo; his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and party Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey. For eight months, President Mahama had to endure the pain of defending his legitimacy at the Supreme Court whiles at the same time presiding over the affairs of the country. It will be recalled that immediately after the election, the NPP through it General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, otherwise known as Sir John, threatened to make the country ungovernable and indeed, went ahead to organize series of demonstrations and boycotted almost all major events involving President Mahama until the August 29 ruling of the Supreme Court affirming the legitimacy of the President.
