Aspiring National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku has implored religious leaders close to President John Dramani Mahama and his government not to join the foot soldiers of the governing National Democratic Congress. Sammy Awuku asked the government�s religious associates not to dance to the tune of the government but rather make the President aware of the true state of the economy. Speaking on Oman FM's political analysis programme, Sammy Awuku kicked against praying for the cedi to rise because to him, it's not "fasting and prayers" that would revive the cedi. He averred that the men of God should call a spade a spade and tell the President the truth regarding the way and manner he�s steering the affairs of the State. �Ghana�s economy now is like a sick patient on a psychiatric bed. We have lost our sense of reasoning with the kind of administration now.� Sammy Awuku further disagreed with the General Overseer of the Action Faith Chapel, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams action to seek divine intervention for the country's currency. Leading his congregants, Archbishop Duncan Williams spiritually "commanded" the falling cedi to "rise". He further led his church to offer prayers for President John Mahama, Central Bank Governor Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah and Finance Minister Seth Tekper for divine help to salvage the cedi. But the NPP Aspiring Youth Organizer stressed that the "man of God and his congregants can pray for this government" but as for him, he "will never pray for this government� because in his view, it behoves government to put better initiatives in place to rescue the cedi. �The men of God closer to the President; they�re also part of the problem�because they should make him aware that some measures that he has put in place are stimulating the sufferings of the nation. But they have joined the praise singers of NDC foot soldiers and praising the government in the midst of the hardships.�
