It appears Dr. Nii Armah Josiah Aryeh has bitten more than he can chew as he stands accused of stealing vehicles and selling his conscience just to fill his stomach, hours after launching a blistering verbal attack on the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). The staunch member of the National Democratic Party raised eyebrows when he blamed the country's economic woes on "thieves" hired by the president to fill critical positions in government. Addressing supporters at the party's regional delegate�s congress held in Kumasi over the weekend, Dr. Josiah Aryeh, one-time NDC General Secretary, said the situation has denied Ghana of good leaders who can change the fortunes of the nation for the better. "I compare certain people [in government]...to a gang of thieves; they go stealing in the night" and "keep the booty to themselves...how come that when given the freedom of choice to out of our own volution we have been such a way that we end up in a situation and the condition of real (sic) leaderlessness; yes indeed we are leaderless," he charged. But in a sharp riposte, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Aseidu Nketia, wondered how the pot (Josiah) could call the kettle (NDC) black (thieves). Speaking in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah "Tikese" on Okay FM, General Mosquito, as the NDC General Sec is affectionately called, accused his predecessor of committing a shameful act not befitting a General Secretary by receiving a bribe from its political opponents; the New Patriotic Party (NPP). �As General Secretary for a big party like the NDC, Dr. Aryeh sold his God given conscience for just $3000,� he claimed. According to him, one of the reasons that accounted for the dismissal of Dr. Aryeh from the NDC was because he simply could not stop stealing items which did not belong to him. �When he was sacked from the NDC, he secretly stole two cars belonging to the party and sent them away. Till date, he has failed to return it. When I asked him to return (the vehicles), he asked me to change portions in our report (concerning investigations conducted into allegations that he received a bribe) before he could hand over the cars,� Asiedu Nketia claimed. Such a person, according to the NDC�s Chief Scribe, does not qualify to label others as �thieves�, adding that this unwholesome behavior of Dr. Aryeh even contributed to the party's defeat in the 2004 General elections.
