Gay Ugandans To Commit Suicide Than Live Under Law

Following President Jonathans signing of the same sex bill, Uganda has followed suit. On Monday 24th February 2014, President Yoweri Museveni signed the Anti-gay bill into law. The law is aimed at criminalizing all homosexual relations; offenders face a 14-year jail term while more convictions may lead to life sentences. CNNs Christiane Amanpour spoke to one of Ugandas gay rights activists Pepe Julian via a telephone conversation from the nations capital city Kampala. She revealed that members of the gay community are afraid of losing their lives and would rather take their lives than live under the law.
