Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, the Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing has urged the media to go beyond the �missing baby saga� by putting into the public domain the bad conduct of health workers on patients. According him, the media can play a critical role in unraveling the level of negligence some medical practitioners display in the discharge of their duties, which lead to the loss of lives. �Some health workers behave as though they are doing patients a favour by attending to them and that sometimes leads to their death,� Hon. Oppong Asamoah said on UTV�s �Adekye Nsroma�programme. He made this comments in reference to a Ministry of Health directive that the doctor and nurse under whose watch the still-born baby at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital in Kumasi went missing to proceed on leave. The Ministry has also referred the Doctor and the Nurse to the appropriate bodies for further investigations. Health Minister Ms. Sherry Ayittey at a Press briefing on Thursday also revealed that her Ministry will do everything possible to ensure that the truth is unraveled. However, the Ashanti regional Police Command has preferred charges against seven health workers of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, for stealing and conspiring to steal. But the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing wants the media to delve deeper into the circumstances that lead to the disappearance of the baby and also the conduct of health workers towards patients.
