Man Shot Dead In Tamale; Kandaha Boys Fingered

A-26-year-old man has been shot dead in Aboabo in the Tamale metropolis Monday afternoon. The reason for the shooting is not yet known. Residents, who heard loud gunshot blaring, had to run for their lives, following the killing of a resident. Police suspect the killing may have been masterminded by a New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth group known as Kandaha. Northern Region Police PRO, Ebenezer Tetteh said "for now we will pick the body to the morgue for preservation and from there we will start our investigation. Information surrounding the death is sketchy so we are now going to activate our investigative machinery." The deceased has been identified as Mustapha Abdul Rashid. Ebenezer Tetteh said the police was informed that the Kandaha boys were actually behind the shooting. But the group have denied the allegation. The secretary to the group,Omar Anas Gadiri told Joy News the deceased was actually lynched in a bush. According to him, they were initially informed that the deceased was a member of the Kandaha boys but they got to the scene of the incident to find out he was not. The spokesperson for the Kandaha boys completely denied any involvement in the incident and called for police investigation. He said one of the their colleagues was actually shot on Saturday, March 8, 2014 and confirmed dead in a hospital Monday, March 10.
