Minority Leader Is Being Divisive Kwakye Ofosu

A deputy Information Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has described allegations by Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, that government is sabotaging some Ghanaian-owned businesses as divisive. Indeed, It is important that all Ghanaians join hands to condemn this sort of record. It is not only divisive, it serves as a disincentive for the effective performance of state institutions that have been mandated by law to ensure that companies and entities operating in our country operate according to the acceptable standard, he said. The Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, accused the Mahama-led administration of sabotaging Ghanaian-owned businesses while pretending to be advocating for them. According to Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, government is using various strategies to sabotage businesses in Ghana including Tobinco. But speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Ofosu Kwakye stated that the allegation had no basis saying, I find it extremely surprising that he would come out to make such a statement without any basis. It is this sort of behavior that has intimidated several citizens into inaction whenever it has become necessary to take steps to enforce the laws of Ghana. When you question him as to the basis on which he claimed that government or FDA has singled out Tobinco for vilification because of his alleged or supposed political view, he cannot give any complete answer, he will only double his speculation, he added. In his opinion, the onus lies on Mr. Mensah Bonsu to ensure that the Food and Drugs Authority carry out its objectives ensuring that persons are engaged in the import of drugs into the country comply with standards. This, he said, will ensure that Ghanaians are safeguarded in terms of their health.
