Voting For National Executives Should Be Based On Competence And Not On Regional Balance

Aspiring First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Michael Omari Wadie has decried the existing trend of campaign based on regional balance in his party saying such development has denied the party the opportunity to select competent and experienced national executives. His frustration was borne out of the way some of the young elephants in NPP are campaigning for their aspirants on regional balanced basis, ignoring the core desire for competent leaders with good track records to withstand any circumstance in the partys quest for power. In recent reportage, a member of the communication team of NPP, Richard Asante Yeboah stated that Mr. Stephen Ntim, an aspiring National Chairman of the party was the missing link to bind supporters of the party in the Brong Ahafo to seal victory for the NPP in 2016. Considering the fact that the NPP has consistently amassed votes close to 50 per cent from the Eastern and Ashanti regions, Richard Asante Yeboah believes the dream of his political party to win the next general elections will be a reality if delegates vote for Mr. Stephen Ntim who hails from Brong Ahafo. But the First Vice Chairman aspirant, Omari Wadie is not pleased with the way the campaign has been reduced to a regional balanced contest, urging the delegates to ignore the call and rather concentrate on competence and experienced of the aspirants to secure victory for the party. People must understand that in elections, either you win or lose and so people must say what they have been able to do for the party and what they are prepared to do differently to secure power for the party.what people are capitalizing on is the region they belong to and I dont think that is what we need now as we move forwardI have always condemn regional balanced executive voting that selects leaders from all the regions to represent the party..we should be talking about competence, track records of aspirants and not on regional balance, he asserted on Okay Fms Ghana Decides program.
