Palm Kernel Oil Producers Call For Support

Palm kernel oil producers within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on Wednesday called on private individuals to invest in their businesses in order to sustain them. In a statement signed by Ms. Fati Ahmed, Spokesperson for the Boafo Ye Na Palm Kernel Oil Processing Limited and copied to the GNA called for public/private partnership to improve upon their business for effective and efficient productivity. The statement said the palm kernel business needed capital injection and innovation and called on individuals, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Metropolitan Assembly to assist the Association in marketing their products. It added that the lack of raw materials for production coupled with lack of governmental support was collapsing their businesses. The statement said: �Our current production location is in a deplorable state and several attempts to get the assembly to assist us relocate to a decent place have failed.� It added that the harsh condition under which palm kernel oil producers operated was not helpful adding, �We need assistance especially from the assembly to relocate to a decent place.� The statement noted that Small and Medium Enterprises (SME�s) played a significant role in the economy of the assemblies and the country as a whole. �We are self employed, generate employment and help reduce poverty - Boafo Ye Na Palm Kernel Oil Processing Society Limited wants to be competitive on the market and expand their production base� the statement said.
