Hon. Rachel Nana Adwoa Apoh, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency and the Deputy Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection has congratulated the Black Maidens on their successful World U-17 tournament in Costa Rica. She wrote in a statement: "In Costa Rica, Ghanas female under -17 football team: the Black Maidens really made us proud by advancing to the quarter final stage of the womens under 17 world cup competition from a very tough group with past winners Germany and Korea Republic. "Although the team lost on penalties(3-4)to Italy, you exhibited a high level of commitment. No wonder you returned home to such a rousing welcome. "I will like to congratulate the coach Evans Adotey, his technical crew and especially the players for the Good work done despite the bad officiating from the referee of the day. "I want to use this medium to appeal to the Ghana Football Association to maintain this solid team for future tournaments. As a keen follower of women's soccer, I have noticed that Under -17 marks a major turning point in soccer history. Our girls are talented, and I dare say that, they will go places. "In addition, its my humble plea that the Ministry Of Youth And Sports and the Ghana Football Association will in future tournaments release winning bonuses, allowances and other benefits due the players on schedule to keep them well motivated during the games. Finally, my thumb up once again to the BLACK MAIDENS AND I say better luck next time".
