Sports Psychologist Dr. Patrick Ofori says there is nothing wrong with Black Stars players taking their wives and girlfriends to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Dr. Patrick Ofori, who was Ghana�s Psychologist at the 2010 World Cup, told XYZ News that sex does not decrease performance of athletes. According to him, there is nothing wrong with Blacks Stars players taking their wives and girlfriends to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. But former FIFA Referee Mercy Tagoe has described as unnecessary the idea behind allowing wives and girlfriends to join their partners at the World Cup. A section of the Ghanaian media reported a fortnight ago that the Black Stars team psychologist has submitted a proposal to the GFA to consider the move. Even though the Ghana FA rubbished the reports, the development has since gained a lot of momentum on sports programmes in the country. Sharing her thoughts on the issue, the retired FIFA referee and current assistant coach of Ghana Premier League side, Amidaus Professionals said allowing the wives and girlfriends of the players in camp would be a distraction. �There is no need for you to take your wife or girlfriend to the camp, it is not necessary. You need to be focused, do your work, get whatever you want from the work, and your wife would be the happiest person. �It is a matter of the psychologist doing his work and getting the players prepared mentally. Forget about the sex aspect, your wives are always there for you after the World Cup. You can go ten rounds a day, if you want. But that should not happen at the World Cup. There is more sleep after death,� she added.
