Emulate Otumfuos Commitment To Dev. Nana Adu Ansere

NANA ADU Ansere, the chief of Patasi, a suburb of Kumasi, has urged his colleague chiefs to emulate the commitment of the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II towards the development of the country. He believed that if chiefs who were at the helm of governance before the Europeans introduced the decentralization system of governance were to play their roles as Otumfuo has been doing for the past fifteen years he ascended unto the Golden Stool without solely depending on the central government to execute all the development projects the people need, Ghana would have gone far ahead in terms of national growth. Nana Ansere who is also Otumfuos Abenasehene was speaking to the media after he chaired a programme organized by the Ashanti regional office of the National Youth Council to seek the support of youth organizations within Kumasi metropolis to participate in a clean up exercise slated for 26th of this month as part of activities geared towards heralding the 15th anniversary of the Ashanti King. Nana Ansere noted that 15 years after Otumfuo ascended unto the throne he has used his influence not to transform not only the chieftaincy institution, but has worked tremendously to leave no stone unturned to propel the development of all sectors. Otumfuo has not only injected modernity into our chieftaincy set up, but he has worked relentlessly to support sectors such as education, economy and social activities of the people across the country, he observed. According to him, all his sub-chiefs must emulate him by replicating his leadership style in their jurisdictions, especially, the one that has to do with helping their communities to develop without necessarily relying on the central government for things that they can contribute to achieve themselves. Commenting on what he has been doing for his community, Nana Ansere revealed that as the quest to attain quality education required large quantum of contributions, he often donates reading books and other stationeries to public basic school within his area. He said he recently donated a large quantity of library books and other reading material to the South Suntreso basic school. Apart from the books he indicated that he regularly repairs all the damaged windows of the schools from his own income. He called on the youth to fully participate in all activities lined up for the 15th anniversary of Otumfuo in order to make the event very convivial.
