50 African Countries To Watch Ayittey Powers/Bukom Banku Fight

The much publicised non-title Cruiserweight bout between Braimah Bukom Banku Kamoko and Michael Ayittey Powers on Friday, May 16, will be beamed live across 50 African countries. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, General Manager of Multi Choice Ghana Limited, operators of DSTV, revealed this at a press conference in Accra, during the re-launch of the fight after both boxers agreed to fight. He said his outfit will ensure an excellent production of the fight to meet international standards since the fight had already attracted a lot of international attention. He said, the partnership between his outfit, Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and Box Office Sports Promotions will serve as the first step towards the development and promotion of boxing in Ghana. Sunkwa-Mills said, Multi Choice Ghana Limited had also imported modern boxing rings for the fight after which it will be donated to the GBA for future international fights. I am convinced that after this fight, Ghana will be ready to host any world title fight, because we will have modern rings and other equipment to stage such high events. I however wish to commend the GBA for ensuring the revival of much publicised fight after the initial jolt. Peter Zwenes, President of the GBA, said there is much premium on the fight because it will be a platform for showcasing Ghana boxing as a light in Africa. We are the only African countries to have produced more World Champions, and so we have a great responsibility to show to the rest of the continent and the World that, we have what it takes deliver on the international scene, Zwenes noted.
