Ruling On Woyomes Submission Of No Case Adjourned To April 30

The ruling on the submission of no case filed by businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome on the GH51 million judgement debt saga has been adjourned to April 30, 2014. The Economic, Financial and Tax Court 2 of the Accra High Court hearing the case was expected to rule on the matter today. However, Graphics Court Correspondent Michael Donkor reported that when the case was called, the presiding judge, Mr Justice John Najet-Assam explained he has not finished writing the ruling due to ill health. Mr. Woyome, the embattled National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier who is facing charges of defrauding by false pretences and causing financial loss to the state, has had a team of four lawyers representing him in the trial that has been ongoing for nearly two years. Mr. Woyome obtained a GH51million judgment debt payment, but the state contends the payment was obtained fraudulently. The state filed a civil suit to retrieve millions of monies it paid mistakenly to Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome. The Attorney-General is therefore seeking an order for the refund of the judgement debt of GH51, 283,480.59 paid to Mr Woyome because, according to the state, it was procured by fraudulent means.
