Christians Mark Crucifixion Of Christ

Christians across the country, joined the rest of the world to mark Good Friday in commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ about 2000 years ago. In Ghana, while orthodox churches marked the day with their usual church services, most Pentecostals and charismatic groups are holding conventions. A study by Ghana News Agency revealed that in spite of the different mode of the celebration of the day, the message for the occasion remains the same all over. The occasion, from a wider perspective, will afford many towns and villages the opportunity to launch or inaugurate development projects, while at the Kwahu traditional area; it is a big platform for merry making and family reunion. At the International Central Gospel Church; Israel Assembly, at Golden Gate Tantra Hills, in Accra, Prophet Fred Ashong asked Christians to use the occasion to undertake self-assessment. Look Over! He said. He said the second coming of Jesus Christ is closerwe must therefore not used the period for merry making, but a period to reflect on the significance of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In a response to the question Are Christians still the salt of this world? In view of the numerous ills associated with the church, Prophet Ashong noted that current events in Christendom are fulfillment of signs of the end times. Prophet Ashong said in spite of the ills associated with the Church, Christians are still the salt of this world some wayward ministers and believers behaviour may occasional come to the limelight but that is not reflection of the church today. He said: Purging the church is not the responsibility of any individual but God. At Harvest Chapel International headquarters at Tesano, the Reverend Samuel Kwesi Dickson Associate Pastor reminded Christians of Christs last pronouncement on the cross; it is finished.
