NDC Greater Accra Declares Every April 26 A Memorial Day

Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, has declared every April 26 as a memorial day to honor the demise of the party�s Deputy Regional Women Organizer Hajia Adiza Salley who passed away tragically after attending the funeral of the sister of the First Lady, Lordina Mahama in Kintampo. Hajia Adiza Sali and Agnes Tia, the NDC�s Deputy Women�s Organizer for Greater Accra and Volta Regions respectively, died in a car crash on the Kintampo-Techiman Road while returning from the funeral of the sister of the First Lady. Vivian Ankrah, the Greater Accra Regional Women�s Organizer of the NDC, survived the crash but is said to be in critical condition. She is currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. In an official release from the Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the NDC copied to Peacefmonline.com, Ade Coker described the late Hajia Adiza Sali as being very instrumental during the 2012 election campaign. In solidarity with the bereaved families, NDC in Greater Accra Region has also declared one week mourning in all its 34 Constituencies and has asked party offices in the region to be draped in red and black amidst suspension of all party activities in the region for one week. As a mark of respect and honor for her contribution to the party�s success since 1992, NDC Greater Accra Region has decided that every April 26 be marked as a memorial day in honor of Hajia Adiza to be observed yearly. �Until her untimely death, she rose through the ranks since 1992 from branch to constituency to deputy regional women organizer in 2010�..On this unfortunate incident, the Greater Accra Region declares 26th April a memorial day in honor of Hajia Adiza to be observed each year. The region sends its condolence to the bereaved families of the departed and also commensurate with the family of the Regional Women Organizer and wishes her speedy recovery,� the statement read.
