Young Democrats Want DCE Appointed For Sissala East

A group, calling itself the Young Democrats, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to appoint a District Chief Executive to manage the Sissala East district in the Upper West Region. According to the group, the delay in nominating a DCE could affect the development of the district, and appealed to all stakeholders to help in the confirmation of any person the President nominates as DCE for the area. In a press statement issued at Wa last Friday, the Director of Communication of the group, Mr. Prince Justice Ali, revealed that the district was facing administrative stagnation. He said Sissala East is the only district in the region without a District Chief Executive, thus lagging behind in development. Mr. Ali also said that the district could experience political and social tension if the President failed to appoint a DCE for the area. He indicated that the absence of a substantive DCE for the area was not only affecting the public business of the district assembly, but policies, projects, and programmes of the government by some key decentralizsed departments like Health, Education and Security. Mr. Ali said the undue delay in the appointment of the DCE to administer the affairs of the district was depriving the district of numerous development projects.
