Political Parties Divided On National Economic Forum

Political parties are divided on the relevance of next weeks National Economic Forum in Akosombo. Government says next Tuesdays Forum will help achieve consensus on policies, strategies and measures to accelerate economy growth. The General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention, Bernard Monah supports the forum in an interview with XYZ News. He said the platform will afford all Ghanaians the opportunity to propose solutions to the countrys economic woes. But the Progressive Peoples Party does not think the forum has any importance. The partys head of legal team, Dennis Ofosu Appiah told XYZ News, the event is a waste of time. A leading member of the New Patriotic Partys Boniface Gambila also told XYZ News, the forum will only serve as a platform for government officials to engage in another talk-shop. Meanwhile a Former finance minister, Dr. Kwesi Botchwey has rejected assertions that next Tuesdays economic forum is a verdict of Governments lack of competence to manage the economy properly. Dr. Botchwey told Strict proof that despite the cynicism of a section of Ghanaians, a dialogue over the economic woes of the country is still significant.
