NPPs Boycott Of NEF Is The Beginning Of Afoko And Agyapongs Agenda Against Nana Addo

A Member of the Governments Communication Machinery, Alhaji Naziru Mohammed, has pooh-poohed at reasons adduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its boycott of the National Economic Forum saying the opposition partys refusal to participate in the national dialogue is rather an attempt to defame Nana Akufo Addo in the NPPs next Presidential primaries. The on-going NEF is bringing together various stakeholders from political parties, civil society, private sector and many more to tackle the countrys economic difficulties by brainstorming. At a Press Conference held on Monday, the National Chairman of the party Paul Afoko, described the forum as a PR gimmick calculated to keep the people of Ghana in the dark about the real state of the economy. The NPP further asked its members not to attend the forum not only because "they didnt receive their letter in time but also because government has already made up its mind on how to run the economy; and no amount of discussions will change it". But responding to the boycott of New Patriotic Party, the NDC communicator told Peacefmonline.com that there is another reason behind the boycott other than the official one given by the leadership of NPP as the leaders believe their participation in the forum will enhance the chances of Nana Addo in the upcoming Presidential primaries. We have to think outside the box to realize that the boycott is not meant to do something against NDC but rather to do something against Nana Addo..It is because the current leaders of NPP believe that their participation in the economic forum will project Dr. Bawumia, and Nana Addo will end up benefitting more if he (Bawumia) excel in his delivery.Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong agenda will be subdued if they allow Dr. Bawumia to represent the party because his success will enhance the chances of Nana Addo. NPPs boycott is the beginning of Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong agenda against Nana AddoI am disappointed that the NPP has to take personal agenda against themselves at the detriment of the nation; the members who have accepted the decision of the leaders should bow their heads in shame, he opined.
