Bukom Banku Is Too 'Overweight' For Ayittey Powers Bout

The much awaited Judgement Night bout has been hit with yet another controversy after Braimah Kamoko failed to meet the weight class for his Cruiserweight bout against Ayittey Powers scheduled for the Accra Sports on Thursday. Kamoko, otherwise known as Bukom Banku, weighed 218 pounds which exceeded the upper limit of 200 pounds for the cruiserweight division. But Ayittey Powers had no such problems after weighing 200 pounds. The bout promoters must now agree to fight in the catch weight division or force Banku to shed the excess 18pounds, according to Liguidsports A catch weight contest allows pro boxers to fight above their weight class as it is considered as a nonstandard weight limit. The bout has already been postponed on two occasions and the latest news is bound to raise more eyebrows. For example, when Manny Pacquiao fought Miguel Cotto at a catch-weight of 145 pounds, the World Boxing Organization sanctioned this as a title fight for welterweight, whose limit is 147 pounds.
