Asantehene Urges Leaders To Show Quality Leadership

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu the second, has urged African leaders to show quality, and find innovative ways to address the development challenges of their people. They should work hard and focus their efforts on bringing progress to transform the lives of those they lead. He said while appreciating the critical importance of prayers, it must not be lost on anybody that this alone would not lift the continent out of poverty and other economic difficulties God challenges mankind to use the brain power He has endowed us with, to search for and find solutions to the economic challenges we encounter, the Asantehene added. He was addressing ministers of the gospel and some international evangelists after he had been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by the Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma, United States (US) at the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC) in Kumasi, on Wednesday. The honour was in recognition of the exemplary leadership of the Asantehene, described by many as a man of great humility, poise, wisdom and generosity. Otumfuo Osei Tutu has won admiration for transforming the image of the chieftaincy institution in Ghana. The Asante King said God has been generous to the continent and blessed it with natural and human resources, and it was up to us to efficiently exploit them to make our situation better. We should not wait for miracles to happen. The brains He gave man to distinguish us from the animal kingdom was for a purpose -to enable us use them to add to His gifts, improve the environment around us, to search and to explore for ways of improving the quality of our living. If we waste that brain we waste His most precious gift of all. Otumfuo Osei Tutu also spoke against ethnic and religious conflicts afflicting some African countries and urged calm. He added his voice to calls for freeing school girls abducted by the Boko Haram in Nigeria. Dr Richard Roberts, President of the Oral Roberts Ministries, said the Asantehene was acknowledged all over the world as a proven leader whose wise counsel, leadership and rule had been exceptional. He said his Ministry was impressed with the Kings passion for education, and concern for the development of all Ghanaians, and asked for Gods guidance and strength for him. Dr Lawrence Tetteh, Founder of the World Miracle Outreach, said the Kumasi for Christ Crusade, which was being organized as part of the 15th anniversary of the enthronement of the Asantehene, was in recognition for his love for Christ, and desire to make God the anchor of his reign. He said the crusade would bring healing and miracles to people and plant the word of God in the city.
