Ghana Draws Closer To Convergent Criteria For Introduction Of Common Currency

A Deputy Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Bonaventure Adjavor, says Ghana is getting closer at meeting the convergent criteria set by ECOWAS to be met by member states to allow for the eventual introduction of the common currency, the ECO. The sub-regional economic block has had to be rescheduled several times, due to the inability of the member countries to meet the convergent criteria. Speaking to Radio Ghana on the fringes of a days seminar in Kumasi, Mr Adjavor indicated that the ECOWAS is set to hold a meeting this year to review how far the member states mostly the Anglophone countries have come in their efforts at meeting the set criteria, for a decision to be taken about the future of the ECO.
