The Director, Plan Coordination at the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Isaac Frimpong Bonsu has called for a national dialogue on the exact role Tertiary Education Institutions should play in the development of the nation. He said it is not enough for them to be churning out graduates every year , most of who compound the unemployment situation. Dr. Bonsu said this to Radio Ghana at the sidelines of the 7th Annual Colloquium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ghana, Legon. Meanwhile, the University of Ghana will from the next academic year decentralise the evolution and administration of academic programmes. The move will make it easier for students to select academic programmes and enhance teaching and learning. As part of the reforms, the Faculty of Social Sciences will now become the School of Social Studies.
