Adjiri Blankson Angry

An elder of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Mayor of Accra, Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, is seething with rage over the behaviour of some party members who pride themselves as leading members. According to him, some of these supposed leading members are creating confusion in the party by hiding behind smokescreens. Speaking with party faithful at Chorkor, a fishing community in Accra over the weekend, he indicated that of late certain characters in the NPP have arrogated this democracy concept to themselves by insulting Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Ordinarily, the NPP guru said he would have expected such things to be coming from their political rivals and not from the NPP. This was after news went round that a certain leading member in the NPP in the Ablekuma South constituency which includes Chorkor was instigating some party youth in the area to push an anti-Akufo-Addo agenda even before the NPP opens the primary for people with interest in the flagbearership position to file their nominations. An obviously enraged Adjiri-Blankson who has taken it on himself to nurture the NPP in fishing communities in the Greater Accra Region could this time not control his temper. Anger He warned, Henceforth, I and my colleagues will not stand by and allow any idiot; any foul mouth idiot to use derogatory words against Nana especially when they cannot be proven. He however failed to mention any names. Weve come a long way with our democratic credentials and we as the NPP or the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition are the practitioners of democracy in Ghana and look at us tearing ourselves apart even at a time when nominations have not been opened, he wondered, while asking those behind what he described as these evil machinations to bow their heads in shame. As senior member of the party whose life-long resources have been committed into building the NPP, Adjiri-Blankson noted with emphasis, I am warning those behind such machinations that I will not, and I repeat, I will not allow innocent fishing community people to be manipulated to denigrate Nana Addo with inexplicable reasons. For the well over 38 years that he has known Akufo-Addo, he said he could tell from his heart of hearts that Akufo-Addos only desire in politics was to help his fellow countrymen and not to enrich himself. Warning Every member of the NPP is bound by the partys constitution and the constitution in this case does not allow people to openly go on the streets and be dancing to the tune of prospective candidate; it is not going to help us and if we are not going to obey the very fundamental rules that we have set for ourselves, then we have a long way to go, he emphasized. He further noted, We have had ugly days in the past and I do not think the NPP will allow a re-visitation of the period when people will go on the streets and will be insulting fellow party members. Adjiri-Blankson has therefore asked those behind some of these schemes and their agents to be mindful of their actions since they would not be allowed to have their way.
