Four Drowns As Police Calls For Efforts To Protect Lives On The Volta Lake

Four persons have drowned in the Volta Lake in the Kwahu Afram Plains District due to bad weather which has made the Lake very rough and dangerous in recent times. Superintendent of Police Adu K. Baadu, the Donkorkrom Divisional Police Commander, made this known to the Ghana News Agency Media Auditing and Development Tracking team at Donkorkrom under the Star-Ghana sponsored project to promote transparency and accountability. He said the Command had plans to set up a marine police force to offer rapid assistance at anytime on the Lake. Superintendent Baadu said his outfit had begun organizing forums on the banks of the Lake to educate people on the need to study the weather before going for fishing or crossing it. He called for the improvement of the transportation system on the Volta Lake to ensure that lives are not lost.
