Man Found Hanging On Tree

The lifeless body of an unidentified young man, aged about 25, has been found hanging on a tree at Tsavanya, a farming village in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region. The fresh-looking body, with no trace of a cut or struggle, was in a brown T. shirt, a light-blue pair of trousers and a pair of blue slippers. The deceased is not known to be resident of Tsavanya or nay of the nearby communities. A small traveling bag containing a tooth brush, a tooth paste and few personal effects, believed to belong to the deceased, was found under the neem tree on which he was hanging. It is not clear whether it is a case of suicide, but members of the community were suggesting, foul play, though the body bore no signs to suggest so. Some believe he might have been murdered elsewhere, and hanged there to erase any clues for investigations. Jennifer Dogbe, a teacher, told the GNA that a pupil of the Tsavanya D-A Basic School, who was on her way at about 0540 hours on Friday to fetch water near the school, saw the body hanging on a neem tree near the school canteen. She said the child reported the incident to a teacher, who raised the alarm. Police from Agbakope, who refused to talk to the press, have since removed the body and conveyed it to the morgue at the South Tongu District Hospital, Sogakope.
