Wee Peddlers Flee New Edubiase

Nana Akua Dwum II, the Queenmother of New Edubiase in the Ashanti region, has disclosed that drug peddlers, who virtually took over the area a few months ago, have fled the area due to the hard work and dedication by the police. She said the activities of the wee peddlers and users also led to sharp rise in criminal activities such as robbery and rape, among others. According to the traditional leader, most of the wee peddlers and smokers had been sentenced by the courts. This, she said, had sent shivers down the spines of other criminals in the area. The New Edubiase Queenmother disclosed this when the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye and his entourage paid a courtesy call on her. She also commended the police in the region for their hard work. She praised police personnel in the area, notably, ASP Martin Assenso, the New Edubiase District Police Commander, for effectively maintaining law and order. The Ashanti Regional Police Commander said discipline in the police service is very crucial in the fight against violent crimes and illegal activities. In this regard, he stated that since he assumed office about three months ago, he had promoted discipline in the Police Service. DCOP Kofi Boakye said the police in the region were ready to deal ruthlessly with any miscreant that intends to terrorize law-abiding citizens. The police commander was accompanied by senior police officers in the region and Jojo Bebli, a Ghanaian security expert residing in London, who is assisting the police with his rich knowledge in the fight against crime.
