Ellembele MP Commended

The District Director of Education for Ellembele, Reverend Mrs. Elizabeth Akuoku, has lauded the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for his contributions to the enhancement of education in the district. She noted that there have been tremendous improvements in education, especially at the Basic level, following the MPs interventions since 2009. Rev. Mrs Akuoku disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Nkroful, last Thursday, and stressed that, the annual mock examinations organised at the behest the MP and the District Assembly have improved the results of the successive Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). Last year, the District obtained 75.6 per cent at the BECE, which was a remarkable improvement over the previous years. Mr. Buah has again been providing the schools with the Junior Graphic newspaper to enable the pupils to cultivate the culture of reading, and to be abreast of issues of national importance. Also, debating clubs have been formed in the second cycle institutions to engender intellectual discourse among students, and imbue them with confidence to speak in public. In the area of sports, Mrs Akuoku said, Mr. Buah has provided jerseys for the schools. He has had Information and Communication Technology laboratories established in some schools to enhance ICT education, she added. According to the District Examinations Coordinator, Nana Nyamekeh Fofole, two mock examinations have been organised, so far, with the third in the offing. He was confident that the pupils will do well in the examinations and appealed to them not to engage in irregularities in view of their adequate preparations.
