Fresh Fighting Breaks Out At Gushegu Over Land

Fresh fighting has broken out at the Northern Regional town of Yinyamba, in the Gushegu District over a parcel of land. Reports indicate several people have been injured as a result of the renewed conflict which started early Wednesday morning. Yinyamba is about 48-kilometres away from the district capital of Gushegu. Two injured persons have been sent to the Gushegu Government Hospital for treatment. The administrator of the hospital, Emmanuel Donkor confirmed to Accra based Joy FM that the two sustained gunshot wounds. He said one of the injured persons was at the Out Patient Department (OPD) whilst the other was at the theatre where doctors were attending to him. A police officer described Wednesday morning�s incident as a free for all fight between two Konkomba farming communities, Yinyamba and Bariba. Dozens of homes are said to have been set on fire. The District Chief Executive for the Gushegu District, Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini who confirmed the incident said police and military personnel have been deployed in the town.
