Churches Clash With Ga Traditional Council

Four churches in the Accra metropolis have clashed with some young men who describe themselves as operatives of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) in the latter�s attempt to seize some musical instruments. The said incident took place last Sunday, May 25 at Tesano. The taskforce was said to be seizing musical instruments belonging to individuals and churches in their bid to enforce the ban on drumming and noisemaking. Spokesperson for the Accra Regional Police Command, Sergeant Kwabena Danso, disclosed that three churches were visited by the taskforce according to them [taskforce] to ensure that the ban on noisemaking was followed to the letter. He said they [taskforce] went there to seize their musical instruments but upon moving to the fourth church, a distress call was made to the Tesano police station. The Accra Regional Police spokesperson further indicated that a patrol team was dispatched to the place and five members of the taskforce were arrested. Two vehicles were also impounded Sergeant Danso could not give the names of the churches involved since it was not readily available.
