NLC Meets NAGRAT And CCT

The National Labor Commission is set to meet government alongside the National Association of Graduate Teachers and the coalition of concerned teachers at 2: 00 pm on Wednesday. This follows the resolve of the aggrieved primary and secondary school teachers to call off their nationwide strike to allow for negotiations to resolve their concerns. Members of NAGRAT and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers started a nationwide strike on the 15th of May and followed it up on the twentieth with a national demonstration in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi. The teachers are protesting unpaid allowances and some bottlenecks concerning their worker based pension scheme. The NLC therefore scheduled that government and the leaders of the teachers fronts appear before it on Wednesday for deliberations. Communications Director of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ali Alidu told Ultimate Radio, they will revisit their strike action if government fails to make a representation at the meeting today. The meeting is to be attended by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, Attorney General and Justice Ministry, finance ministry, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), the Controller and Accountants General and the National Pensions and Regulatory Commission (NPRA).
