Joel Nettey Heads New Advertising Association Of Ghana Council

The newly elected President of the Advertisers Association of Ghana, Joel Edmund Nettey wants a swift passage of the Advertising Council bill. Mr. Nettey, Chief Executive of Innova DDB Ghana, who was elected together with 10 other Council members was speaking to the media moments after an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting in Accra. The occasion was also used to admit Corporate and Individual Members into the AAG. The bill, which has been reviewed by Cabinet, according to him, will bring about reforms to move the advertising industry forward. �The bill if passed by Parliament will help to regulate outdoor, TV and radio advertising and bring sanity into the industry� he added. The new AAG president has a two year mandate. Mr Nettey replaces Mrs Norkor Duah, the out-going president. Also elected are Mansa Amowuah and Mr Martin Osei as Vice President and Treasurer respectively. 10 other individuals and companies were also elected as members into the Executive Council. In his acceptance speech, Mr Nettey pledged the commitment of the newly-elected leaders to ensure that the needs of all interest groups in the association, including media agencies, outdoor companies, production houses, creative agencies and individual members, are met. �As we take up this mandate, you are entrusting us with, my Executive, the Council and I, commit to work with you, one and all, as well as our augmented Secretariat, now made up of an Executive Director, an Operations Manager, a dedicated Outdoor Co-ordinator, an Accountant and a Secretary,� he said. He thanked members for the confidence reposed in them to steer the affairs of the company. He urged Corporate and Individual Members of the AAG, to share with the Executive and Council, concerns, observations, advice and especially ideas, on how to move the industry forward. �We will call on and count on each of you � morning, noon and night. There are various committees to serve on, and it is time to see a good blend of experience and new ideas,� he said. Mr Nettey also urged members to participate in the International Advertising Association Africa Congress being hosted by AAG in Accra this year, dubbed �Africa Rising � The New Consumer Generation� from November 12th to 14th.
