Four Shot At Maame Water

Four persons sustained gunshot wounds during a robbery attack and mob action at Maame Water, near Juapong in the Eastern Region. One Joseph Adjetey Sowah aka �Stone�, a resident of Teshie, Accra has since been arrested in connection with the incident, and is assisting the police in their investigations. On Saturday, May 24, 2014, at about 9pm, a group of six men wielding locally-manufactured pistols attacked the Star Oil Filling Station at Maame Water. In the process, they shot and wounded Richard Ganyo, 30, an attendant at the station, Klevor Atsitome, 35, a bystander and Atsu Dzakpa, 26, who went to the rescue of the victims when he heard shouts for help. The suspected armed robbers went into the manager�s office, broke the safe and stole an unspecified amount of money. In an attempt to escape, one of the suspects, Adjetey Sowah was accosted by the mob and handed over to the police. A Nokia mobile phone belonging to Richard Ganyo was found in his pocket after a search was conducted on him. Adjetey Sowah travelled to Maame Water with two other accomplices from Teshie, Accra and met three others at Juapong to embark on the robbery operation. Mob Action Later on the same day, one Godwin Amewugbe, who was running to board a boat to report for work, was mistakenly shot in the knee by the irate mob. All four injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the VRA Hospital at Akosombo in the Eastern region. ACP James Azuma Abass Abaah, who confirmed the story to DAILY GUIDE, appealed to the public to shun instant justice. He said people should report such persons to the police rather than taking the law into their own hands.
