NDPC To Carry On With Public Consultation Forum

The National Development Planning Commission, (NDPC) is to continue its National Stakeholders Consultation forum to seek public input into the finalization of the medium term National Development Policy Framework to guide Government on its development agenda. The series of consultation which started two years ago has been put on hold due to the death of the Chairman of the Commission Mr. P.V Obeng. The policy framework, Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda which is to be implemented for the 2014-2017 period will among others focus on creating the appropriate fiscal space for accelerated investment in key priority areas in partnership with the private sector. It will also encompass new developments in sectors like oil and gas and ICT. The National Stakeholders Consultations forum is to ensure that the views of all stakeholders are reflected in the Development Policy Framework document and ensure that citizens own the document. The consultation which resumes on Monday in Accra will involve people from the academia, research institutions, think tanks, students� unions, faith based organizations, representatives of registered political parties, the private sector as well as the media. The new development plan, Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda Two is projected to help increase the average incomes of Ghanaians, shape a new Ghana where there will be increase access to quality education and health services and application of technology in ensuring that export earnings no longer depend on unprocessed primary products and extractives. Key personalities who are commissioners of the NDPC like Professor Addei Mensah, Dr. Micheal Agyekum Addo, Mr. Ishmeal Yamson and Dr. Sulley Gariba who is a policy advisor at the Presidency have been billed to chair the forum.
