Demo Against Mahama Over Ministers Dismissal

Barring any last minute hitches, the youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Wassa Amenfi East Constituency of the Western Region will today organize a massive demonstration against President John Mahama. DAILY GUIDE has gathered that most of the NDC youth in the area are dissatisfied with President John Mahamas decision to revoke the appointment of their Member of Parliament (MP), Oppong-Fosu last Friday. The NDC youth said the decision of the president constitute a serious punishment meted out to the good people of Amenfi East and Western Region as a whole. The paper learnt that the youth are preparing to hit the street of Wassa Akropong in their numbers this morning to protest against the dismissal of their MP. Meanwhile, the NDC youth in the constituency organized a press conference to register. Nicholas Bimpong, Chairman of the group, noted that for the first time since 1992, the NDC was able to win 18 seats out of 26 in the Western Region. He added that the Wassa Amenfi East constituency had been captured by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for 12 years and that through the hard work of the members, the NDC was able to win the seat in the last general elections. When one compares the number of ministerial appointments allocated to Western, Upper West and Eastern Regions, one will not doubt that indeed the Western Region has been marginalized, he asserted. He commented: The Western Region had only two cabinet ministers with two deputy ministers, and sacking Mr. Oppong-Fosu from the local government ministry without reassigning him is very painful and needs reconsideration by the president. We are therefore petitioning the president to reconsider his decision by reassigning our MP to another position to give the party here tool for our 2016 campaign, he stressed.
