Ade Coker Cautions NDC

Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC,) Mr. Ade Kobina Coker, has advised supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rally behind President John Dramani Mahama to enable him deliver on his Better Ghana agenda. He reminded NDC faithful(s) that the performance of the party in the 2016 polls is hinged on the delivery by the president during the four years offered him by Ghanaians. The NDC Greater Accra regional chairman made this call in an interview with Today whilst commenting on the recent feud between the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, and her out-going deputy Minister, Benita Sena Okity-Duah. Consequently, the NDC chair urged all party members to discard the harsh criticisms against the president by the opposition parties and instead continue to highlight on his good deeds. Leadership of the party was also encouraged to work to ensure that their individual interest do not override that of the party. This, Mr Coker explained, will help President Mahama to have full concentration on the governance of the country and thereby deliver on the partys promises to Ghanaians ahead of the 2016 General Elections. We cant fail Ghanaians and we must help President Mahama to fulfil the Better Ghana agenda we promised, he said. It would be recalled that last week a group of NDC branch executives and youth from various branches in the Ledzorkuku Constituency in Teshie in the Greater Accra region urged President John Mahama to remove Nana Oye Lithur from her ministry. The group alleged that Nana Oyes conduct towards her two deputies and the NDC supporters in the Greater Accra region was becoming unbecoming. A meeting as a result of that allegation was held by the Greater Accra regional leadership of the NDC to address all concerns. The meeting, which was presided over by Mr. Ade Coker, could not resolve the issues hence last week Fridays press conference by a group of NDC branch executives. However, the convenors of the said press conference were amazed that Mr. Coker failed to attend. The convenors therefore went on to accuse Ade Coker of being unprincipled. But, the NDC Greater Accra regional chairman denied that allegation, describing it as a figment of somebodys imagination. According to him, after a second thought he realised that it was unfair to hold a press conference to talk about alleged behaviour of somebody while the person had not been given the opportunity to defend himself or herself. You cannot make a statement to malign the woman [Nana Oye] when you have not listened to her side of the story; that is not principle. Nobody is afraid to say the things that need to be said, the NDC Greater Accra regional chairman asserted. Mr. Coker maintained that Nana Oye Lithur who is out of the country on official assignment must be allowed to make her case against her two deputies, especially the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku Constituency. He therefore seized the opportunity to admonish NDC supporters, particularly those in the Greater Accra region, to be tolerant to each others views, adding our victory in 2016 lies in our strength and unity.
