Fulani Robber Shot Death

Barely three days after one of the six suspected Fulani armed robbers who allegedly attacked some people at Assin Kwata and Assin Edubaise in the Central Region was arrested by the Assin Praso District police, another man, believed to be a Fulani, has been shot dead by the police. The suspected armed robber, Abudu Omara Sadik, was shot dead by a police officer, Lance Corporal Victor Agyeman Boateng, attached to the Assin Foso District Police Command. The body of Sadik has been deposited at the Assin Foso St Francis Hospital for autopsy. Briefing DAILY GUIDE on Thursday, the Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ransford Moses Ninson, said the incident happened on June 3, 2014, when the police at the Assin Foso checkpoint spotted Sadik riding an unregistered motorbike and was heading towards the Cape Coast direction. DCOP Ninson stated that the police ordered him to stop but he refused - a situation which compelled the officers on duty to chase him up to the outskirts of Assin Edubaise where they ordered him again to stop but to no avail. He revealed that Lans Coporal Agyeman Boateng, who was holding an AK 47 assault rifle, attempted to shoot the tyres of the motorbike but unfortunately, the bullet hit the stomach of the deceased. The Commander hinted that Sadik was rushed to the Assin Foso Hospital where he was pronounced dead. DCOP Ninson added that a search conducted on the deceased revealed a locally manufactured pistol loaded with live ammunition, a hammer, a chisel, assorted tools and a pair of military boots. He disclosed that some victims of the armed robbery which took place at Assin Kwata and Assin Edubiase on Monday one DSP Nicholas Alhassan and AK02 Eden Nyarko of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at Assin Foso came to the morgue and identified Sadik as one of the robbers who attacked them. DCOP Ninson said the victims identified the military boots, a car document and a T-shirt as theirs. It will be recalled that in yesterdays edition of DAILY GUIDE, it was reported under a headline, Fulani robber nabbed, that one of the six suspected Fulani armed robbers who shot and killed Abubakari Aburi during a robbery attack, was arrested by the Assin Praso District Police Command.
